Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 19, 2026

🛡️ In short

Vehicle scans and history stay on your device by default. Optional sharing features require a clear, positive choice before any data is transmitted.

Community Comparison is off by default. If enabled, it contributes detailed pseudonymous battery measurements so you can compare health and test performance with similar vehicles.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Ev Analyzer ("the App", "we", "us") handles user data. Ev Analyzer is a battery diagnostics application for electric vehicles that connects to an ELM327 OBD2 adapter via Bluetooth or WiFi to read vehicle data.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains our practices clearly and honestly.

2. Data Collection

2.1 Personal Data

Ev Analyzer does not require an account and does not ask for direct personal identifiers as part of its core functionality. The App does not intentionally collect:

Optional feedback contains a free-text message. Please do not include your name, email address, registration number, VIN or other personal information. If you voluntarily include personal information in that message, it will be processed as part of the feedback you chose to submit.

2.2 Vehicle Data

The App reads diagnostic data from your vehicle's OBD2 port (battery voltage, cell temperatures, state of charge, fault codes, etc.). This data is:

2.3 Usage Data

Ev Analyzer does not use any analytics framework (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar). We do not track:

2.4 Optional Community Comparison

Community Comparison is disabled by default. If you explicitly enable it, the App sends qualifying battery-health scans and battery load tests to Google Firebase Firestore for comparison, longitudinal battery analysis and improvement of vehicle-data interpretation.

The contribution contains:

It does not contain VIN or a VIN hash, registration number, exact odometer, location, fault codes, diagnostic logs, advertising ID, device ID or account ID. The random vehicle identifier is not derived from those values and is reset when the App's local data is removed.

The App only contributes measurements with at least 60% confidence and shows a median only after at least five qualifying records exist in the same cohort. Sparse cohorts may initially include clearly identified starter reference records; those records stop influencing the median as soon as five qualifying community contributions exist. These comparisons are informational and are not certified battery assessments.

Choice and withdrawal: You can refuse without losing any core App functionality and can turn Community Comparison off in Settings at any time. Turning it off stops future uploads. Earlier pseudonymous measurements remain in the shared dataset; the service has no account or personal identity with which to identify them as belonging to you.

Service provider: Google Firebase Firestore stores the limited contribution and serves cohort results. Google may process ordinary network metadata such as IP address as part of operating and securing its cloud service; this metadata is not written into the Ev Analyzer benchmark document.

3. Website, Release Notes and Feedback

3.1 Release Notes Website

The website at evanalyzer.web.app is a product and Release Notes website. It has no public forum, user accounts or public posting feature. The Release Notes page reads developer-published update text and dates from Google Firebase Firestore.

The website does not use advertising or analytics. Firebase Hosting and Firestore may process ordinary technical request information, such as IP address, browser information and request time, as necessary to deliver and secure the service. Ev Analyzer does not add that information to a user profile. Where this technical information constitutes personal data, it is processed on the basis of the legitimate interest in providing and protecting the website (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

3.2 In-App Feedback

The fastest way to contact the developer about a bug, feature request or improvement is the optional Send Feedback feature inside the App. A submitted feedback record contains:

Feedback is submitted without an account, name, email address, advertising ID or device ID. It is stored in Google Firebase Firestore and is readable only by the authenticated developer administration. It is used to review reports and improve Ev Analyzer, and is retained only while it remains useful for those purposes.

If your message contains personal information, the legal basis for processing it is your consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)), expressed by voluntarily choosing to submit the message. You may withdraw that consent by contacting the developer, although anonymous feedback may be impossible to locate unless you can provide enough detail to identify the specific submission.

3.3 Retired Beta and Community Features

The closed beta signup form and public Community forum have been retired. The website no longer accepts beta registrations, community posts or public replies.

Historical community posts, replies and beta-access records may remain temporarily in Firebase while post-release cleanup and deletion requests are handled. They are no longer publicly readable and can only be accessed by authenticated administration. They are not used for advertising or marketing.

If you previously submitted information through those features and want to request deletion, contact christoffer.karlsson-dev@outlook.com with enough information to identify the record.

4. Data Storage (App)

Connection settings, selected vehicle profile, scanned fault codes, detailed health reports and session history are stored on your device using local storage mechanisms (AsyncStorage). This local data:

5. Network Communication

The App may communicate with:

Core OBD2 scanning and local history do not require Community Comparison and continue to work when it is disabled.

6. Third-Party Services

Ev Analyzer uses Firebase Firestore for explicitly submitted data and online App content. It does not include:

7. Permissions

The App requests the following Android permissions, used solely for local OBD2 adapter communication:

Location data is not collected through these permissions.

8. Children's Privacy

Ev Analyzer is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly request personal data from children.

9. Data Security

We minimise transmitted fields and implement the following safeguards:

10. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at christoffer.karlsson-dev@outlook.com. We will respond within 30 days.
